Where better to enjoy a weekend diving than at Fathom Five National Marine Park – Shipwreck Diving Capital of Canada. Explore the archipelago of 19 islands where submerged forests, canyons and underwater waterfalls date back to a time before modern man. View the remains of ancient coral in this once tropical sea. Sheer cliffs, limestone overhangs and large caves can be found both on the islands and submerged beneath the water. For the diving enthusiast, the remains of over 20 historical shipwrecks also lie beneath these clear, cold waters, like the Barque Arabia, W.L. Wetmore, and Forest City.

*PLEASE NOTE: All divers must be certified minimum as Advanced Open Water and present logged deep (100 ft+) and cold water (< 50°F or 10°C) dives in the last 18 months. These dive sites are extremely cold and may have strong currents and sometimes low visibility. Experience in these conditions is MANDATORY.

Product Description

    In 110 feet of water off Echo Island lies the remains of the Barque Arabia. The masts lie broken and scattered but the bowsprit still reaches gracefully forward. Severe fall weather has left ships like the 213 foot steamer, W.L. Wetmore, laying 30 feet under the water’s surface.

    Whether diving or snorkelling, the remains of the Wetmore provide excellent recreational opportunities. Swim over the massive timbers and explore the huge boiler which reaches within 10 feet of the lake’s surface. Then follow the trail of chain that leads to the anchor now resting among the rocks and debris off Russel Island.

      There is so much to dive and explore around the waters of the greatest city in the world, Toronto, Ontario! Whether you’re searching for some remarkable recreational diving, or interested in technical exploration, the waters off the coast of Humber Bay Park is an adventure waiting for you to take. You will enjoy scuba diving some recreational shipwrecks, like the Sligo and the Merrill. If you would like to enjoy technical diving, you can dive the Lyman Davis.

    • Christian Island

      $300.00

      Christian Island and surrounding area of southern Georgian Bay in Lake Huron is a favourite destination for beginner and advanced divers alike, thanks to its crystal clear waters and close proximity of a number of old shipwrecks. Most of these shipwrecks date back a century or more, like the Marquette (1867), the Mapledawn (1924), and the Michigan (1843). This area of Georgian Bay, just off the shores of Penetanguishene and Midland, is the final resting place to hundreds of other sunken vessels, many of great historical value. These shipwrecks are generally well preserved, due to the cold, fresh water conditions. There are also amazing rock formations to see, with some underwater glacial erratics (boulders) the size of homes, that have been transported by the movement of ice during the ice age 70,000 years ago.
