Catalina – 80 Cu Ft. Aluminum Cylinder

The Staple cylinder in the diving industry is the 80 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank. This cylinder is used by more divers’ dive operators and retail dive stores than any other type of cylinder available.
Aluminum cylinders unlike steel cylinders don’t rust, they oxidize. The oxidization of aluminum forms a protective coat that hinders the continuation of corrosion making aluminum cylinders less likely to be condemned due to excessive corrosion. When shipped the tanks valves will be removed and the tank will require re-inspection before being filled. Note: All Catalina cylinders are nitrox ready and meet certificated specifications of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) with DOT-3AL specification and Transport Canada Safety and Security (TC) with TC-3ALM specifications.
The Catalina 80 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank is commonly used for Cave Diving, Cold Water, Night Diving, Open Water, Recreation, Warm Water, Wreck Diving and more. After a hydro test, steel tanks usually come back with flash rust. There is a $50 rust clean fee for this. Some incompetent visual inspectors don’t bother rust cleaning the tanks due to the labour involved. We rather let you know upfront and get you breathing CLEAN air. We wouldn’t breath it.
