The Enriched Air Diver course (Basic Nitrox) is our most popular specialty scuba course. Why? Because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver.

If you’re a (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course. Note that in some regions the minimum age is older than 12.

Can’t make it to class? We’re flexible! Choose the Elearning option and contact the store to schedule a “Quick Review” with an instructor at your convenience.

Course Time: 7:00 – 9:30 pm

Product Description

What will you learn?

You’ll learn why diving with gas that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practical session, and two optional (or required) scuba dives, you’ll:

  • Discuss managing oxygen exposure.
  • Practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank.
  • Set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox.

How can you start learning now?

Sign up for Enriched Air Diver Online – eLearning option – to get started immediately. The web-based system covers all the enriched air diver course content and allows you to study at your own pace through an easy-to-use, interactive program. You also have access to an online version of the Enriched Air Diver Manual.
You can also choose to read the Enriched Air Diver Manual and watch the Enriched Air Diving video. Stop by our dive shop to enroll in the course, get your materials and start learning.

What gear will you use?

Most modern scuba equipment and dive computers can be used with enriched air, but your Instructor will let you know if your gear meets manufacturer recommendations and local requirements. However, scuba tanks must meet oxygen service standards and be dedicated for use with enriched air. You’ll practice using oxygen analyzers and special cylinder decals. Your Instructor and Aquarius Scuba staff will explain other equipment you may need to enjoy enriched air diving.

  • Freediver

    $195.00 – $849.00

Have you ever wondered how some people can hold their breath for very long and dive? This is the fairly new and growing world of freediving! Aquarius Scuba is proud to begin it’s very own freediving training at the Etobicoke Olympium on Monday nights.

    What is freediving?

Freediving is any of various aquatic activities that share the practice of breath-hold underwater diving. Examples include breath-hold spearfishing, freedive photography, apnea competitions and, to a degree, snorkeling. The activity that garners the most public attention is competitive apnea, an extreme sport, in which competitors attempt to attain great depths, times or distances on a single breath without direct assistance of an underwater breathing apparatus.

The sport of freediving is becoming more popular all over the world, especially with younger generations, and we are proud to say we have helped it grow in Toronto. Join our class and pool session, and you will meet pro freediving coaches, who were part of the world-record breath-hold dive.

AIDA is the worldwide rule and record-keeping body for competitive Freediving events. It aims to set standards for safety, Official World Record attempts, and Freediving Education.

Join our optional 1 year Club Membership for only $150, to benefit from world class coaching and quality practice at the Etobicoke Olympium Pool.

    Boat Diver

    $100.00

Much of the world’s best scuba diving is accessible only by boat. Whether you’ve never made a boat dive or you’ve logged dozens, the Boat Diver Specialty course will benefit you because boats in various parts of the world do things differently. Scuba diving from a boat is fun and relatively easy because you usually descend directly onto your dive site.

If you’re a (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 10 years old, you can enroll in the Boat Diver course.

Course materials required. Boat charter extra.

    Deep Diver

    $200.00

The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 18 metres/60 feet, and on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge. Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres/130 feet, you should take the Deep Diver Specialty course.

If you’ve earned the Adventure Diver rating or higher, and you’re at least 15 years old, you can enroll in the Deep Diver course.

Course materials required. Boat charter additional.

  • Diver Propulsion Vehicle Course

    $199.00

Diver propulsion vehicles (DPV) offer a thrilling way for scuba divers to see a lot of underwater territory in a short amount of time. They scoot you through the water allowing you to glide over reefs, buzz around a large wreck or weave through a kelp forest. Whether making a shore or boat dive, a DPV is a great way to see more and have fun doing it.

If you’re at least 12 years old and a (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher, you can enroll in the Diver Propulsion Vehicle course.
