Love sharks? Scared of sharks? Or do you just want to know more about them? Enroll in an Shark Conservation Specialty course and discover the value of sharks to marine ecosystems and economies. You’ll learn more about the causes of declining shark populations and the actions you can take to become a knowledgeable and passionate shark defender. By being informed, you can dispel misconceptions and act to protect sharks. Sharks need you!

If you’re a (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the Shark Conservation Diver Specialty course.

 

Academic

At the end of your classroom session and two open water dives, you will be able to explain:

  • The conservation status of sharks, why they are unique and vulnerable, and the importance of healthy shark populations.
  • How to manage threats to sharks, recognize the value of sharks and remove barriers to conservation.
  • Actions you can take to protect sharks and how joining a global movement of divers can help to protect sharks.

Get credit! The first dive of this Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

    Have you already completed the class and pool training less than 1 year ago? All you need now is your 4 open water checkout dives. The 4 open water checkout dives have to be done out in the open waters, such as a lake, river or ocean. We do our open water dives in a safe and fun environment, Gulliver’s Lake, where we built our very own 20×20 training platform for you to use and feel more comfortable while completing your skills. During the open water checkout dives, your Instructor will be testing you on the skills that you have learned during the pool portion of the Class & Pool course.     Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to find out but are not quite ready to take the plunge into a scuba certification course, then Discover Scuba Diving is for you! This intro to the world of scuba will let you try it and see if you like it. Our version of this program is conducted in a safe and fun pool environment.

    While not an actual scuba certification, Discover Scuba Diving will teach you how to use scuba equipment in both shallow and deep waters and allow you to get a quick and easy taste of what it is like to explore the underwater world.

    *All participants must complete and sign the Medical and Liability Release forms. If you answer any of the questions with a YES, you will need to provide a note from a physician stating that you can scuba dive, before the pool session.*

    So, you’ve already had a taste of scuba diving with the Open Water Diver certification, and you want to explore more? Well, look no further. The Advanced Open Water course will increase your enjoyment and proficiency in diving while building on your skills in a variety of diving environments. This course will add to your existing skills and increase your confidence in the water. It is after taking this course that many get truly hooked on diving! The shift from recreation to passion happens here, as more of the ocean becomes available to you and you feel more comfortable, confident, and safe.

    Earn your Advanced Open Water Diver in a weekend locally or in sunny Cuba on a week’s vacation!

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy

    $150.00

    Excellent buoyancy control is what defines skilled scuba divers. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. They more easily observe aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings. You can achieve this, too. The Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level.

    (Junior) Open Water Divers or higher, who are at least 10 years old, are eligible to take the Peak Performance Buoyancy course.

  • Ice Diver

    $100.00 – $399.00

    If extreme, unusual and challenging scuba diving scenarios appeal to you, try diving under the ice. Ice diving is one of the most adventurous scuba specialties because you confront conditions and see beauty few others ever experience. Plus, you might get a chance to play with your exhaled bubbles on the bottom of the ice. Flash your Ice Diver certification card to get instant respect, and usually a lot of questions from other divers about what it’s like under the ice.

    You need to be an Advanced Open Water Diver who is at least 18 years old to enroll in the Ice Diver course. Six divers minimum required for safety reasons.

    Deep Diver

    $200.00

    The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 18 metres/60 feet, and on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge. Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres/130 feet, you should take the Deep Diver Specialty course.

    If you’ve earned the Adventure Diver rating or higher, and you’re at least 15 years old, you can enroll in the Deep Diver course.
